THE PURPLE PRINCE OF PEACE

THE PURPLE PRINCE OF PEACE

by Josiaah Jackson

1958-2016

‘Alone in a world that’s so cold…this is what it sounds like when the doves cry’.

Our Prince has died. Long may he live within us. His symbol: the complete intertwining of the masculine and feminine.

Prince, the Shakespeare of music. Our muse of sound and lyrics. God. Sexuality. Social activism.

Funk, rock, pop and jazzy, he was grace personified. Sensual with the peace of the androgynous. An incomparable intellect. A Prince of sheer joy, he changed us all for the best and forever. Nothing Compares 2 U, my sweet Prince of Power. I only want to see you once again, baby, walking in the purple rain.

With tears in our hearts, may you rest in peace.
