TENDENCE is a hand turned pencil/pen holder made of European walnut sourced from the French Pèrigord noir region, east of Bordeaux. The walnut trees are cut into planks and stored outdoors to dry, that process can take up to one year per centimeter. The wood we use is taken as close to the heart of the tree as possible. The plank is cut into round blanks and then turned on a lathe. The blank is given its first turning on the lathe using a variety of fluted gouges and then let rest for a few weeks during which time the wood changes shape slightly. At this point, it is turned again to reach final shape and sanded for a smooth finish. A clear food safe oil is applied to enhance the natural beauty of the wood, then left to dry before waxing with organic beeswax. Made in France.
