Forage VI

When we first saw the photographs by Ellen Hoverkamp, we almost took them for paintings. The 3-dimensionality of her photographs are so vivid and striking, they are reminiscent of the still-life paintings of Flemish and Dutch masters. This is due to Ellen's pioneering use of the scanner.

Her technique of scanning upside-down floral bouquets and other beautifully composed arrangements results in a photograph that is truly mesmerizing.

One can stare and stare at the layers in her compositions where she uses vines and pods, mosses and lichens, and the oddly mutant carrot to create a still-scape that brings nature inside all year long.

Photographs are printed on bright white matte photo paper.
