Hevioso Stool
Hevioso Stool
Hevioso Stool by Arno Declercq
The Hevioso Stool is a striking fusion of sculptural form, tribal symbolism, and contemporary design. Handcrafted in Belgium by designer and art dealer Arno Declercq, each stool is made of burned and waxed Iroko wood, topped with a fixed sheep wool seat that adds warmth and tactility to its bold architectural silhouette.
Declercq’s work reflects a deep fascination with history, atmosphere, and craft - an ethos shaped by his upbringing in a family passionate about fine objects and design. His discovery of Iroko, a tropical hardwood revered in West African voodoo culture as “the king of the forest”, came during his travels exploring tribal art. Believed to house ancestral spirits, Iroko carries an almost mystical presence that Declercq transforms into modern relics through fire, wax, and handwork.
Each Hevioso Stool is entirely handmade and one-of-a-kind, an embodiment of Declercq’s signature aesthetic—where raw material meets ritual, and furniture becomes sculpture. Custom finishes and colors are available upon request. Contact our offices at concierge@modernrelik.com for further information.
