Gilles Caffier is a French-born designer trained in textile and fashion, with early couture clients including Yves Saint Laurent and Paco Rabanne. At 22 he moved to Tokyo, became an art director at an international fashion school, and later opened his studio; his first collection showed at Joseph, London in 1996. He now creates sculptural vases, lamps, and objects using unconventional materials - leather, sea-urchin and coral - like forms, and spiky, perforated ceramics. His work conveys movement and dimensionality, informed by textile roots and experimental surfaces. Seen worldwide for over two decades, his signature vases balance classic and contemporary lines in marble, ceramic, and glass.
