French artist and designer Jules Desdoigts unveils his first series of unique art pieces, offering a poetic showcase of objects within a contemporary setting.

 

Jules Desdoigts aims to transform the way we perceive these fragments of history. By subtly detaching them from their original function and pairing them with contemporary materials and uses, he creates a link between past and present. He elevates them in a new way. The object becomes mobile and unique. It travels through styles and metamorphoses. It offers a fresh interpretation, unexpected and rich in contrasts.

 

This unique, one-of-a-kind creation in black lacquer features two special sculptures. From the moment they are handled, they invite intimacy.  The gilding marks the genesis of the creation.  It propels the contemplative experience.  Rich, complex, shiny, matte, polished, chiseled.  It defines the furniture.  The black lacquer, with its high-gloss varnish, is sober, pure, and smooth.  It embraces the antique piece, revealing and awakening it. This is the power of black:   its neutrality combined with the omnipotence of contrast.  The sobriety of black contrasts with the curiosity they inspire.  Opening and unfolding its unusual door-opening mechanism, which gives it another distinctive feature - the doors transforms the art piece into a safe.
